Powerful Shunting Performance

When you need reliable pulling power on the rail, the Unimog delivers impressive traction while retaining the flexibility of a road-rail vehicle.

The Unimog’s rubber tyres drive directly on the steel rails, creating a high level of friction and excellent traction. The rail guidance system keeps the vehicle securely on track and allows rail travel at speeds of up to 50 km/h. This combination enables the Unimog to confidently handle towed loads of up to 1,000 tonnes or 52 railway carriage axles.

It’s ideally suited to applications including freight transport and the towing of trains and trams.
